“And in the End…”

Dave and Sarah Eickelberg —  August 9, 2011 — 8 Comments

15 seasons.

331 episodes.

13,902 minutes.

In 1974, author Michael Crichton wrote a screenplay based on his own experiences as a resident physician in a busy hospital emergency room. Twenty years later, on September 19, 1994, the pilot episode of ER aired.

We were both 11 years-old when the show started, so we didn’t really have any interest in it. As we grew older, we would catch a few episodes here and there but never really considered ourselves fans of the show.

In April of 2009, the show came to an end. For reasons still unknown to us today, we decided to go back and watch every single episode. It took two years to accomplish, but last night we reached the finish line!

We aren’t going to lie…it was a kind of sad. We ordered some Jimmy John’s to help ease the pain.

We both went with the Club Lulu this time (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo). As with everything else at Jimmy John’s, it was incredible. When we order from J.J., we always get one package of salt & vinegar chips and one package of BBQ and we split them. They are both so good and we can never pick just one flavor to eat, so it works out well!

We do need to say that our all time favorite TV show is LOST. We are pretty sure nothing could ever top that show. BUT, our second favorite show of all time has become ER. So many characters, stories and memories from that show.

So long County General Hospital, so long.

  1. What’s the next TV show for y’all? MASH?!

    • I am trying to convince Sarah that we need to watch every Harry Potter movie. We’ve never been fans of it and I often make fun of Harry Potter nerds…but I feel compelled to watch it. It is so culturally significant now.

  2. We are working through Lost right now. We’ll have to order some memorable food for our finale viewing. ER might have to be next for us.

    • Oh man. That brings back memories. In past LOST finales we printed off some labels to cover beer cans and had “Dharma Beer.” We also had “Apollo Chocolate Bars.” We were too emotionally drained to do anything special for the very last episode of LOST though.

  3. I love JJ’s salt & vinegar chips! They are so good! I’m a sucker for #2 and seem to always order it!

  4. I’m new to your site (and loving your recipes!) thanks to Iowa Girl Eats and had to put my two-sense in… Friday Night Lights is a show that will stay with me forever. And don’t let the thought of it being all about highschool football scare you, it is so much more! I believe it’s currently on Netflix Instant Streaming and worth every second of time you invest into it!
