Archives For Pizza

Last night was TV night in our house. Let’s just be brutally honest here…just about every night is TV night in our house. BUT, Thursdays are TV nights to the extreme. There are just so many great shows on!

After getting the munchkins fed, bathed and put to bed, we set out to whip up a quick dinner for the two of us to enjoy. This week, we decided to go with homemade pizzas.

Don’t get us wrong, we love classic cheese, sausage or pepperoni pizzas just as much as anyone. But when we make pizzas at home, we try to avoid the standards. We see it as a time to experiment with new toppings!

Our kids may just be the funniest people we know.

Over the past couple of years they have said things that have brought us to tears of laughter. Just a few of the comments over the years:

“Can we pray for help for Marley’s poops to come out?” -Gavin

“Daddy, can you hold my sippy cup for a second? I need to go jump on Marley’s face.” -Gavin

(After asking Marley to pick her toys up) “Hang on, I need to stretch first.” -Marley

“Gavin can be Snow White, I’ll be Belle, and mommy can be Sleeping Beauty…cause she’s always tired.” -Marley

And our favorite:
“Be careful with the apple cider guys. It’s still hot.” -Sarah
“We will…” -Marley
“…Rock you!” -Gavin

Besides all the quotes from our kids, we also get enjoyment out of watching the photo booth videos that they record on our iMac. We sat down last night to work on this post and noticed that they had just recorded dozens of short videos in photo booth. We had a gut-busting laugh watching these videos. We put them all together in one video. I dare you to watch this and not laugh…

They were having a great time being crazy until the end when Gavin gets hurt. It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. :(

Anywho…that has absolutely nothing to do with the post for today, but it’s hilarious so we thought we’d share it anyways!

On to the food…

Last week we posted about how quick and easy it is to make grilled pizza. Well, we had the kind of day that called for a quick and easy supper. It was suuuper hot and our AC was not cooperating. We thought we better make something really tasty, really fast and then go somewhere cool! We headed to Target so the kids could spend their allowance. We give them each a whole dollar every week if they keep their toys picked up and do their chores. Marley’s chores are to keep the living room nice by picking up the remotes and pillows and such. Gavin takes the recycle-ables to the bin in the garage. That’s a hard earned dollar! :) They saved up 3 weeks worth, and it’s been a long, hot day so mommy and daddy pitched in an extra dollar for each of them. Marley picked a Color Wonder book. Gavin headed straight for the Cars 2 display, and picked Guido and Luigi. Good choices kiddos!

Back to the dinner plan… A few years back we celebrated our anniversary at Biaggi’s. We had a pepperoni pesto pizza that has stuck with us! Our kids have taken a liking to pesto lately so we went for it. We started with whole wheat naan and layered it up with store bought pesto, pepperoni, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses.

The weather has been so beautiful lately! So naturally we want to spend as much time as possible playing outsideĀ and soaking up all that warm sunshine. Days like these call for a dinner that’s quick, easy and delicious….Grilled Pizza. Yum! You can do this so many ways. Just pick your favorite toppings and let the grill do the work! If grilling isn’t your thing, you can always pop your pizzas in the oven. Our pictures are of Gavin’s favorite, Canadian bacon and fresh pineapple. Smart kid.

Last Friday, we asked you all to vote on which style of pizza you liked better: New York or Chicago. The overwhelming winner was New York-style pizza. We also made a promise that we would attempt to make the winning style of pizza. Even though we both prefer New York-style, deep down we were hoping the Chicago would win because it would be much easier to make!
