I’ve been a little inspired by all the super cute little treats Starbucks has in their stores right now. And what goes better with coffee than a little carb? And if there’s chocolate involved, I’m sold. Here’s what I came up with this time.
Chocolate Croissants
Prep time – 30 minutes
Serves – 8 (2 pastries each)
Ingredients
1 package frozen puff pastry (2 sheets)
1/2 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
Directions
Let the frozen puff pastry thaw according to instructions on the package.
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place puff pastry sheet on a clean surface. Cut the sheet in half each way to make 4 equal squares. Cut each square diagonally to make 8 triangles. (We used the Trader Joe’s brand, which comes as a square. If you use Pepperidge Farms brand, which comes as a rectangle, you may have to adjust a little to get the kind of triangle you need.)
Scoop a rounded teaspoon of the mini chocolate chips onto the bottom third of the triangle along the straight edge. Roll the pastry up, tucking in the chocolate chips as you go until the point of the triangle wraps around the center. I’m totally okay with the “rustic, homemade” look, so mine are not perfect!
Repeat with the remaining sheet of puff pastry and chocolate chips.
Place the pastries on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake until golden brown, about 18-20 minutes. Cool slightly.
Next time I think I’ll take it one step further and brush the tops of the croissants with an egg wash and sprinkle with a little sugar before I bake them. I’m looking for that beautiful golden sparkle!
These are the perfect little indulgence for brunch, a baby or wedding shower, or any time you just need a warm little bite of heaven. They are super simple to make, only require a couple ingredients and come together in a snap! So it won’t be too hard to find an excuse to whip up a batch. They are so flaky and buttery…then a little chewy…then there’s all that melty chocolate!! Perfection. They are definitely a favorite! The kids gobbled them up too, though we really didn’t want to share.

These look amazing! I saw chocolate croissants on a cooking show last weekend and have been craving them ever since!
I was looking for something chocolate to add to the menu for my “first day of school breakfast Mom’s get together” (after dropping off kids) and I think I have found it! Thanks!
Awesome!!! Thanks Janet! These are so simple and really tasty!
Totally gonna try these tonight. Didn’t tell my coworkers I am making them so they may be ALL for me…
Uhhh…yeah. They are pretty dangerous. Good luck not eating them all before you get to work. If you can pull it off, you are stronger than we are.
